Michigan Welcomes the Heat of Sunday Night Slow Jams

Alexander Bofill, staff writer

WLMI – i929 in Lansing, Michigan is just the latest radio station of many to add Sunday Night Slow Jams to their weekend lineup, as the show races towards the mythical 200-affiliate count, thanks to the new Mainstream/Top 40 version of the show that is sweeping the nation.

WLMI Brand Manager Art “Artimis” Smith said, “I’m excited to see what R Dub! and Sunday Night Slow Jams can add to our weekend programming.”

Smith is one of the scores of radio programmers who are rushing to lock down America’s #1 rated weekend show this year, as the company’s syndicator, Benztown Radio Networks, continues to lock down market after market.

“The word is out,” said Mark Wilson, VP of Affiliate Relations for Fusion Radio Networks, a Benztown partner. “Slow Jams is landing in every market and the station that has it wins. End of story.”

And Wilson’s words come with merit, as double-digit shares continue to pour in, book after book, for the popular weekend dedication show.

R Dub!, host and creator of Sunday Night Slow Jams said, “I think we’ve almost perfected our new Mainstream version of the show now, as evidenced by the success of so many Top 40 stations who are now dominating with the show. You’re gonna hear the latest hits from Ariana GrandeSam Smith and Bruno Mars…along with a classic special request or two thrown in…and of course, tons of listener interaction. Connecting people is what the show is all about.”

While Sunday Night Slow Jams began with its roots firmly planted in Rhythm radio, there’s no denying that it’s quickly becoming the go-to program for engaging content on Top 40 and Hot AC stations.

Romeo, Director of Programming for Z100 Portland agrees: “R Dub!’s mix of current hits, plus hearing all of our listeners on the show is awesome! If you’re a Top 40 or Hot AC, and you don’t have R Dub! on your station, you’re dropping the ball.”

“Slow Jams connects with listeners unlike any other program I’ve heard.” said Dave “Chachi” Denes, president of Benztown Radio Networks. “Their passion and engagement transcends to incredible ratings.”

Sunday Night Slow Jams debuts February 24th on i929. You can listen live and find out more about i929 HERE.
